2010 SHOW RULES & CONDITIONS

1. All Entries must be on an offical Entry Form. Entry Fees and Fees stated on Entry Form are to accompany Entries. Strickly no Refunds of Entry Fees or other fees. We will accept 1 substitution of another Horse or Pony, and it does not have to be in the same Section or Class at no extra cost. Only 1 substitute horse/pony is allowed to be made on original entry after that a 50% penalty will be charged as well as the normal entry fee on each class entered or changed. If more entry forms required you may photocopy original. All changes or substitutes must go through the Secretarys Office.

2. Show co-ordinators reserve the right to alter, change or combine classes, to refuse any entry and remove any horse/pony it considers dangerous from the grounds. Any disciplinary action taken for any person or animal on the showgrounds is at the discretion of the show co-ordinators and seriousness of the offence.

3. All Dogs must be on a leash at all times.

4.NUMBER HOLDERS ARE COMPULSORY(Except Dressage) for all competitors Inhand or Under Saddle. If competitors require their allocated number prior to show days they can either email, Fax or Phone the secretary ( no later than the Saturday before the show). Catalogues will be available at the showgrounds from Monday the 25th of Jan 2010 onwards which contain allocated numbers also a list of back numbers is on our home page.

5. Only horses or ponies entered in the show are permitted on the grounds.

6. Height certificates must be carried where height is stipulated. Current life, annual or youngstock certificates will be allowed. No measuring on the day of the show.

7. All competitors compete at their own risk. No responsibility is taken for any damage or loss of personal property or accidents on the day of the show. The Show does not have a licence to sell Alcohol and any under aged persons who have consumed alcohol, or any other illegal substance are the responsibility of their parents or guardian while on the showgrounds. All Children under the age of 12 yrs must be closely supervised at all times and are not permitted to ride a bike of any type during the show.

8. Disciplinary action will be taken if any person purposely jabs a horse/pony in the mouth, excessive use of whip, spurs or any other offensive behaviour. No dressage whips to be carried, except for dressage classes.

9. No telephoned or Faxed entries accepted. ENTRIES CLOSE 8TH OF JANUARY 2010. Late entries will be accepted with a 50% late penalty charged on entries received after our closing date.

10. All protests must be submitted no later than half an hour after the incident that gave rise to the protest and must be in writing accompanied by a $30 deposit, refundable if the protest is sustained.

11. A riding hat is to be worn at all times while riding.

12. No working in the rings prior to the start of the show unless permission is given by the Show Coordinators.

13. The use of tranquilliser's, stimulants, or any other drug that may affect the performance of horses or ponies is forbidden. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the show. Testing of all animals will be at owners risk and your signature on the entry form denotes acceptance of these conditions. It is at our discretion whether we take blood or urine. All drug testing results will be published.

14. All horses and ponies that are entered under saddle must be 3 years or over.

15. All trophies are to be returned to the secretary 2 weeks prior to the next show, as they are competed for annually and they must be clean.

16. All rules and conditions that are in the schedule also apply to the catalogue.

17.Please read in co-junction with these rules and conditions any rules that are throughout the Schedule and Catalogue under each Section.

18. If you have entered a horse/pony in two rings please note that NO classes will be held up for you.

19. Protest committee is Denis Bailey and Ernie Knight.

20. As the show has sponsors, no selling of products out of the back of trucks, no displaying of products at the show, or handing out pamphlets, no Horse Massage Therapy or any business activitives of any sort are allowed without the permission of the show co-ordinators, $500 penalty will apply if caught.

21. Once judging has commenced no one can enter the ring late unless approved by the gate Stewards.

22. People using Stables and parking on show ground level must clean up their hay, manure, straw etc before leaving and put in the bin/trailer provided. Bins for stable users are at the end of the old stable complex. Please phone and prebook stables before sending in your entries. Entries that are received paying for a stable that has not been prebooked, and if there is none available, will not receive a refund. Stable charge is $25.00 per night or $50.00 for the full show per stable.
All Stables must be cleaned out once finished with. Please refer to rule 40 also regarding Stables and Yards

23. Note times on the show program are approx only and may be subject to change.

24. No tape or homemade fences are allowed to be erected on the grounds without the permission of the Show Co-ordinators.

25. Competitors entering the dressage classes will not only be bound by the New Zealand Grand National Show rules but also the rules heading up the dressage section.

26. Riders under 17 years old must wear approved safety hats while riding at all times.

27. No Stallions or 3 year old Colts are permitted on the showgrounds without the approval of the Show  Co-ordinators.

28. Horse/Pony profiles are compulsory to fill in.

29. If for any reason the show co-ordinators have to change or replace a selected judge there will be no refunds given to any exhibitors due to this change.

30. Only one Rider per Horse or Pony in each class ie 1 Rider on 2 horses in same class is not permitted. The same Rider who does the Classes in a Section must also do the NZ Grand National Title Class in that Section unless extreme circumstances approved by the Show Co-ordinators.

31. A Novice Horse or Pony is one that has not won a Champion or Reserve Champion at an A & P Show in an Open Section under saddle (Novice Championships not included ) as at the 1st of August 2008 or won a Supreme or New Zealand Grand National Title at any previous Championship Show. Novice Horses and Ponies can also enter Open Classes.

32. A First Year Under Saddle Horse or Pony is one that is in its first season of competing under saddle. First Year under saddle horses and ponies are able to enter Novice and Open classes as well.

33. All Colts and Stallions that are competing at the show must be shown in a bitted bridle.

34. All Colts and Stallions must have a blue ribbon in their tail to signify Entire. All 3 year old Colts and Stallions are not to be Led or Ridden in any classes or on the showgrounds, unless approval has been given by the Show Co-ordinators, All colts and Stallions must have an attendant in addition to the handler to remain on stand by at all times (Handler and Attendant must be 18 years or over), no colts or stallions are to be left unattended or tied to floats or trucks at anytime while on the showgrounds, refer to rule 22 re Stables ( please note if you do book a stable for any colt or stallion it is not to be left unattended in the stable )

35. No tying horses or ponies to the Main Oval Ringside

36. The Show Co-ordinators reserve the right to change or alter any rule or condition they feel has been twisted or utilized to give an unfair advantage to a competitor or to undermind the shows commitment to be fair to all competitors.

37. Ear Plugs are allowed.

38. Camping Permits must be displayed on vehicles and trucks that are staying on the showgrounds.

39. There will be a shower block situated close to the stable blocks, which is only to be used by paying campers only. There will also be a toilet block close to the showers for all competitors to use. People caught using the shower block who are not paying campers will be fined $30.00 each time and will be required to also pay the camping fee.

40. The show is aware that at our 2007 show stables and yards were used by competitors without paying, this will be monitored at our 2010 show and anyone caught using yards or stables without paying will also be fined $25.00 per stable or yard and made to pay the daily charge out rate for either of the above. Under no circumstances is any trade village or display yarding to be used by anyone.

41. Riders on Open ponies up to 128cm must be under 13 years old, ponies over 128cm up to 148cm Riders must be under 17 years old, ages as at the 27TH of January 2010.

42. Under no circumstances is there to be any other person in the ring other than the handler, for inhand, or the rider, for under saddle, unless permission is given by the Show Coordinators.

43. Artifical Aids are permitted in the ring and outside the ring ,providing they do not cause a disturbance to any other horse or pony within the ring example: Rattles, Shakers etc. The Show Coordinators make the final decision on this rule if a problem relating to the use of Artifical Aids occurs.

44. TWO STEWARDS HAVE BEEN APPOINTED For the 5 days and nights of the show to cover the Show grounds and Stable Areas keeping a eye on the welfare of horses and ponies, making sure equipment is regulation, as per the shows rules ie length of whips etc, watching for anyone who is administering any substances and check packaging of that product and if they believe it to be a forbidden substance, pass the matter onto the Show Coordinators to decide whether to do a drug test on that horse or pony, and generally keeping an eye on all aspects of safety.

45/ No Spectators, Grooms, Mothers etc are allowed to stand in the Main Horse Entry Doorway into the Indoor Arena

46/ All Horses and Ponies entering the Show are required to have ID tags on their Horses or Ponies halters at all times. On the ID tag must be written your name and mobile phone number, so in the case of an emergency or your horse or pony becoming loose or hurt the owner can be contacted.
